Mount Fuji Climb

A Group of 9 people climbed Mount Fuji, July 6, 2002
They say
'He who climbs Mount Fuji once is a wise man, he who climbs it twice is a fool'
A dream since a few years came true, to go to the peak of Mount Fuji, the highest point in Japan
A tough climb in many ways I found, first it was dark, climbing with a torch light in your hand, second the time of the day, you start climbing when you usually want to go to sleep, third the terrain, a lot of gravel or sharp rocks, so hand cloves are a good thing to protect your hands. Last but not least the altitude, for those have never been over 3000 meter, that's where the air gets thinner. Having been over 5600 m in the Himalayas, that was not really an issue for me personally. But reaching the peak at 3:15 am, I can say it was a fantastic feeling. The weather was cold and windy, but the view was fantastic during the sunrise. We were very fortunate to see so far and not many clouds have blocked the view. Have visited everyday the week prior the web cam sites from Mt Fuji, not one day you could see the peak nor the mountain. If you look the gallery, you see a picture from us at a nearby lake, the picture was shoot the next day and again we were very lucky for this beautiful view. Thanks to Mathieu for bringing us to the lake to take this fantastic picture, even we missed almost our train.
A special thank to David and Aloysius who have invited me to join this fantastic trip and Mathieu and his wife for taking great care of us and bringing us to the Top
Here the pictures
